Special Opportunities with Community Gardening


Students from our Senior Special Education Class have been fostering a wonderful relationship with Wakefield House (Positive Ageing Centre), in our local community.

Over several weeks, with the support of volunteers at the Centre, students have developed their own patch in the community garden. A community bus collects the students on a Friday morning and they make their way home using public transport when they’re finished. This experience is providing lots of opportunity to further develop important life and social skills and they’re all surprised and delighted at how much they’re enjoying it!

Worm Farming Sustainability

Students in the Glencoe Unit are beginning a unit of work on sustainability by learning about worms. They have learnt that worms are amazing creatures with FIVE hearts! The worms pictured made their way back into our worm farm to continue munching their way through the children’s organic scraps.
