Peter Pan – what a spectacular! Our community and families were super impressed by the polish and professionalism displayed by the 350+ cast and crew, over 2 sold-out performances at Hopgood Theatre. It was such a joy to watch students from Reception to Year 12 having a truly wonderful time on stage, with so much talent amongst them. On Tuesday this week, many of our students were treated to a performance from the “Poetry in Action” group. The first session: ‘Words of War’ was presented to the Year 11 and 12 English Literary Studies students, the second session: ”Words that Changed the World” to the Year 10 and 11 students and finally the third session: “The Citizenship Test” to the Year 8 and 9 students. The students thoroughly enjoyed the live performance as did the performance troupe who were very impressed with the behaviour and involvement of the very large student groups.
During week 8 the Year 12 Drama students are presenting “SKOOL DAZE” a performance based on the 80’s play “All Stops Out”. The play is about the challenges of sitting the HSC, and its role as a rite of passage for young Australians. Our performance has been modernised to incorporate a South Australian setting, with added scenes sourced from other plays and scenes based on social media.Read More
Last Thursday 1st June, our 2017 Arts Showcase was presented to the community at the Hopgood Theatre. Highlights were the wonderful dance on display from primary and secondary students, our beautiful choirs and polished band, stunning vocal soloists including Year 6 Jayden P who has confidence beyond his years and Year 7 drummer Noah M who is performing at Year 12 standard. We also saw some innovation with hip hop dancer Vipop C interacting with a robot on stage, thought provoking short films and vibrant art works on display.
We were incredibly proud of how our students and staff all worked together to put on a great show. Thank you for the feedback from our audience sharing that they “felt humbled to be a part of the experience”.
Tickets are now on sale from the Hopgood Theatre box office for our Arts Showcase on Thursday June 1st at 7pm. Tickets are $10 Adults, $7. concession (pension and youth under 17) and children under 2 are free.
