Camps

(most camps and excursions are at no extra cost to international students)
Camps are integrated into the ISEC, Study Abroad Programs and Mainstream Programs as part of the Reynella East College Experience. Students may be required to provide light meals and snacks as part of the planning process but the most of the cost in included in tuition fees –

  • Term 1 – International Outdoor Education Camp – Naracoorte Caves National Park and Mount Gambier. This is a four-day camp to visit world heritage area of South Australia. On the trip we visit many interesting places. For example, Victoria and Alexandra Caves, Bat caves, Bool Lagoon and wetlands, Mount Gambier Blue Lake, Engelbrecht Cave and Mt Shank and much more.
  • Term 4 – International Outdoor Education Camp – Beach Camp. Students enjoy swimming, snorkelling, surfing, fishing, beach cricket and games to name a few activities.
  • Outdoor education camps are part of the Outdoor Education subject which (depending on the time of year and year level of students), may include :
  • Kayaking camp along the River Murray (Year 10 students).
  • Kayaking camp along Coorong or Glenelg River (Year 11 students).
  • Cycle touring to Fleurieu Peninsula
  • Bush walking/hiking in Adelaide hills and Grampians (mountains in Victoria) and Mt Remarkable in the Flinders Rangers (South Australia).
  • Caving at Naracoorte
  • Rock climbing in Adelaide Hills or Climbing Wall
  • Surfing at Pt Noarlunga
  • Snorkelling at Pt Noarlunga or Mount Gambier

All camps are supervised by qualified and experienced Outdoor Education teachers. Before undertaking camps, students will learn basic skills required for camping during lessons at school. Putting up and packing up tents, cooking, and how to look after the environment they will be staying in. For the beach camp, water and sun safety are taught.

Reynella East College provides the opportunity for students to have a unique and special experience that they will always remember.

Excursions

As part of the ISEC program, we encourage students to practise their English in a range of authentic contexts. For this reason, we offer a range of excursions for international students, including:

  • Adelaide City – markets, shopping and chocolate!
  • North Terrace, Adelaide  – art, history and culture
  • Victor Harbor – whales, little penguins and fish and chips
  • Adelaide Hills – koalas, kangaroos, Mt Lofty and Hahndorf
  • Glenelg – fun in the sun at this popular beachside location

Students also participate in a range of other activities as part of their studies, including:

  • Music Trip
  • Volleyball Trip
  • Science fairs
  • Child Studies programs including reality babies
  • First Aid courses
