Special Needs

A priority at Reynella East College is to provide opportunities for support, extension, enrichment and engagement for all of our students and a crucial part of this is having a comprehensive understanding of each child’s needs and abilities.

Students in P – 7

Students with verified disabilities receive 1:1 support by a School Services Officer who work with the student in their learning area unless withdrawn for their model of support. The focus and level of support identified through the NEP (Negotiated Education Plan) meetings involving the Regional Support Services, Families, staff and any other involved support agencies. We also have approx 75 students with learning difficulties receiving learning support. These groups are fluid and are based on individual learning. Interviews are offered in term 1 and written reports are completed in terms 2 and 4. As the learning support program is a new model for this site this year it is evolving to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Students in Years 8-12

In 2016, an Area Special Class (Secondary) was established at Reynella East College. This is a class of 12 students with high learning needs. Entry into this class is through District Office referral.
