Head of REC chess club Zack C (Year 8) recently represented our school in the High School Esports chess tournament.
Under the team name of ‘eckmate’ Zack performed admirably (even competing on his phone while on holiday!). While Zack was able to dominate teams from New Zealand and Western Australia throughout the season, unfortunately Queensland was his kryptonite.
After a successful season and being able to qualify for finals, Zack was able to successfully make it to the semi-finals. This was where he was matched against a tough opposition that we hoped would be in a different bracket.
We are proud of Zack for making it as far as he did and for representing the school with great sportsmanship.
